K2 Crossrail Wire Management Best Practices

Sometimes the right equipment and a change in thinking can make all the difference in your solar installations. For example, when searching for an easy-to-install open-channel rail system, we recommend the K2 Systems Crossrail. One of the things we like best about this system is the enhanced profile, which allows for more room for in-rail wire management. But why is wire management so important? In our experience, putting wire management at the forefront of your project allows for a much faster, smoother installation process.

Wire Management Best Practices with K2 CrossRail

In this video, you’ll see how a shift in thinking can help you more efficiently plan and execute your solar installation, and watch a demonstration using clips instead of zip ties to secure cables and change directions.

TIPS FOR FIRST TIME PRODUCT INSTALLATION
  1. Prioritize Wire Management

Generally, when using a non-open channel rail, you will mount microinverters first. But for open channel rail like the K2 Systems CrossRail, we recommend starting with wire management. To do this, first lay the cable into the rail and use a micro-mount as a temporary hold for the cable.

  2. Don’t Zip, Use Clips

We also suggest using wire management clips instead of zip-ties to better hold the cable. This makes it much easier to navigate the wire management portion of the installation. Once you determine the cable set up, you can easily set your microinverters into place.
