Using The K2 Ground Lug For A Safe And Efficient Solar Install

The K2 Ground Lug is a top-mounted grounding lug compatible with all K2 Cross Rail profiles. Why top-mounted? Installing from the top of the rail (rather than on the side channel) is easier for you to quickly and efficiently ground your systems. Plus, no copper wire bending is needed when this part is used for your installation. The K2 Ground Lug ensures a reliable and durable grounding connection and high rail engagement, contributing to the safety and performance of your solar setup.

In this video, Dan Preskey, Solar Services Manager, emphasizes the importance of ensuring the bonding teeth run perpendicular to the rail and demonstrates how to align the tabs before securing the lug in place.

TIPS FOR INSTALLING THE K2 GROUND LUG

Insert the MK3 slot nut into the top channel of the CrossRail. While lifting the plastic tabs, rotate the lug 90 degrees clockwise to engage the MK3 slot nut into the channel. If needed, you can back out the bolt slightly to allow space to grab the plastic tabs. Be sure the bonding teeth are perpendicular to the rail channel. From there, simply secure with the provided bolt using a 13mm deep socket wrench.

To install, simply peel off the protective paper backing and stick the Flex Foot directly on the shingle.
