How to perform branch and home run terminations with the Hoymiles T Bus Connector

Branch termination is a critical aspect of solar installations that directly impacts the safety and efficiency of the entire system. Proper branch termination ensures that electrical connections are secure, reducing the risk of faults, fires and other hazards. In this walkthrough, Dan Preskey, Van Meter’s Solar Services Manager, demonstrates how to terminate both a branch and a home run branch, as well as some Hoymiles accessories that help ensure a safe installation.

How To Perform A Branch Termination
  1. Use your thumbs or a solid surface to pop open the cap
  2. Loosen the three screws holding the wires
  3. Remove the wires from the connector
  4. Pull off the compression fitting
  5. Insert T Bus termination cap into compression fitting
  6. Reinstall the compression fitting onto the connector
  7. Reinstall the cap


 

How To Perform A Home Run Branch Termination
  1. Use your thumbs or a solid surface to pop open the cap
  2. Insert wires into the connector
  3. Tighten 3 screws and compression fitting
  4. Reinstall the cap

the conduit adapter comes with the attached sleeve. Remove the conduit sleeve before beginning your wire pull

Remember, if you skip a T Bus connector, you’ll want to use a sealing cap to prevent moisture from entering the connector. The sealing cap simply clicks onto the unused connection port.
