How To Modify Your Hoymiles Grid Profile Settings

Many steps are involved when installing solar: assessing the site, obtaining permits, choosing the right panels and inverters and properly mounting and wiring the system. It‘s also crucial that the system is designed to match your energy use, complies with local regulations and functions the way the installer intends to prevent damage to the system. All of that is achieved through defining the proper grid profile.

When connecting your PV inverters to the grid, local electric utility companies typically require compatibility with regulations, which can be different from city to city. Installers should always ensure their inverters are compatible with relevant regulations to avoid impact on the grid's stability.

In addition, changing your grid profiles can also change the functionality of the inverter. For example, a grid profile change can provide a way to get a 240V inverter to work in a three phase 208V system. This modification ensures the system is set up the way the installer intended for optimal usage.

Generally, grid profiles are preset at the factory and do not need to be adjusted. But if the default profiles need modifications, they are easy to alter. For Hoymiles microinverters, grid profiles can be updated via the Hoymiles Monitoring Platform.

Watch Van Meter Solar Specialist, Tristan Wall, walk through the interface and show you how easy it is to set up the profile you need for your specific solar setup.
