Utilize Eaton Satellite Plants to Get More Projects Done
Having trouble getting panelboards and switchboards within your project deadlines? You’re not alone. Raw material shortages and workforce challenges have thrown our whole global supply chain out of whack, especially for gear solutions like panelboards and switchboards. With lead times sometimes stretching over a year, how do you plan to keep project timelines on track? Learn how utilizing Eaton satellite plants and services can help you get more projects done and meet your deadlines.
WHAT ARE EATON SATELLITE PLANTS?
Satellite plants are smaller Eaton manufacturing hubs with regional locations throughout the country. Before the supply chain crisis, they were used as custom shops for specialty panelboards and switchboards. While they still do custom builds, Eaton has also started relying on satellite plants to expedite orders at a premium while the main plant is over capacity.
HOW MUCH TIME CAN EATON SATELLITE PLANTS SAVE?
While satellite plants can’t totally fix supply chain issues, they can give you a competitive edge by helping you get more projects done in less time. How much more work could you get done by improving lead time from 50 weeks to 35 weeks? How much more money could you make in those 15 weeks? There is an added expedite cost for using the service, but it also pays to complete projects and meet your deadlines.
HOW DO I UTILIZE EATON SATELLITE PLANTS?
If you know you will have trouble meeting your project deadline, have a conversation with your Van Meter account manager early in the process and be upfront about your timeline. From there, Eaton can assess how soon they can complete the project and what it will cost to expedite the order. It’s probably not worth the extra cost on every order, but it’s worth the tradeoff when you can meet deadlines and move onto your next project.
WHAT OTHER EATON SERVICES IMPROVE PROJECT TIMELINES?
In addition to satellite plants, Eaton’s services group and field technicians can offer local support in the following ways:
They can do primary ground fault injection testing or give final approval that inspections are completed properly at your site before equipment is energized by the Utility.
Do you have an old Westinghouse switchboard and need to have an obsolete breaker replaced? Retrofit kits are available and can be installed by their services team during regular business hours or after hours if needed. They can work on older circuit breakers you are not familiar with or perform any specialty work you are not comfortable doing.
Eaton is not just selling materials. They’re supporting you throughout the project.
