Combine two wire pulling ropes with this simple solution

Maximize the capability of your wire pull ropes with Southwire QWIKrope soft shackles

If you need a thousand feet of wire pulling rope for your pull, you’ll need a thousand-foot pulling rope, right? Well, not when you use Southwire’s QWIKrope soft shackles to connect two wire pull ropes together. The ability to combine (or separate) wire pulling ropes into a longer rope with the soft shackles gives you more flexibility in the field and reduces the variety of ropes you need on hand. Watch Adam show you how to combine two wire pulling ropes with soft shackles, or check out the guide below.

CONNECTING YOUR WIRE PULLING ROPES

To start, the wire pull ropes you are connecting should have eyes, or loops, at the end. If you don’t have an eye, learn how to re-eye your wire pulling rope here. Once you have an eye on each rope, hold the two eyes together. Take the soft shackle and pass it through both eyes, then slip the knot end through the loop and pull it tight.

Loop your soft shackle through the two eyes.

You will repeat the process two more times because doing it three times gets you back up to the 32,000-pound tensile strength of your original wire pulling rope. Once you’ve done it three times, your two ropes are as good as one.

You now have one wire pulling rope.

Another advantage of the soft shackle is that it can safely travel around the capstan of your rope tugger without interrupting your pull. With a metal clevis, you would have to stop and manually pull the excess rope out to resume your wire pull.

DISCONNECTING YOUR WIRE PULLING ROPES

Unlinking your wire pull ropes into two separate ropes again is even easier. When you no longer need one long wire pulling rope, pull the yellow string on your soft shackles to loosen the tension around the knot and pull the soft shackles back off. Now you have two shorter ropes for the pulls that don’t require such a long wire pulling rope.
